Austin and Caden
Austin and Caden are twins who were each born with a rare congenital heart defect. At only 2 weeks old, the boys had their first surgeries — on back-to-back days. At 2 years old, they had back-to-back surgeries again, replacing implants that were unable to grow with them. Medical advances helped treatments as they grew, replacing some surgeries with less invasive procedures. Now teenagers, they’ve had five open-heart surgeries and two catheterization procedures between them. Both are doing well, love football, and are developing their own interests and hobbies.
